Deadly airstrikes in Syria by Shara Jeyarajah p.8

A schoolhouse and two hospitals in Syria were struck, killing up to 30 people. At one point, the women's and children's hospital was being evacuated but was struck once again. The Assad regime, headed by the Syrian president, is thought to have created this horrible atrocity. A state department headsman discussed how the regime targeted innocent lives for no valid reasons. In another attack, a hospital was attacked. It was believed to have been targeted because the foundation Doctors Without Borders. The Russian government believed that this attack was by America and its coalition forces. The US countered, saying that their were no American vessels in the areas hit.
This story is awful, and it's horrible that it's possible that a government could care so little about its people to kill so ruthlessly.
This connects to apush, because in the civil war, many armies resorted to total war tactics. They ruthlessly killed men as well as women, children, and all inhabitants in the name of war.
