Claudia Anthony "Trump criticizes Supreme Court for same-sex marriage decision"

On Sunday, Trump said that if he became president, he would "strongly consider" appointing justices to the Supreme Court who would overturn the legalization of same-sex marriage. Trump disagrees with the ruling and believes that this should be a states' rights issues, and the power should be given to the states to decide. Many other Republican candidates have also criticized the Supreme Court decision, and many candidates believe that Trump is suggesting that he would try to get it changed only in order to gain the votes of the socially conservative voters. Trump may only be saying this to gain popularity, and would not actually follow through with it.

Although Trump has expressed he only believes in "traditional marriages," I do not think he would execute this suggestion he is making, and even if he tried I do not think he would be able to succeed. This is similar to Woodrow Wilson's second campaign slogan, which said "He kept us out of war." Months after winning the reelection, America joined World War I, and he did not stay true to the promise he had made voters during his campaign.

  1. If Trump is really just saying that to get followers it's more of a "who is better" type thing. In the long run whoever has the better views for the country will win, not who has more followers. Hopefully people snap out of the Trump fantasy before election day. -Mattie Whisler 9th period flex
