Four American journalists had been covering the anniversary of Bahrain's uprising in 2011. Bahraini police claim that they arrested the journalists for "false information that they were tourists." The U.S. State Department is aware of the situation but has not said anything on the subject.
In the article, it seems that Bahrain has strict media visa operations. Authorities also claimed that journalists were participating in illegal activities but all we have is their word. Honestly, this whole thing seems shady, almost as thought the journalists were trying to speak the truth but the government wouldn't allow it. This reminds me when Congress passed the Espionage Act of 1917 which was meant to regulate freedom of speech during WWI. I'm not sure exactly what the whole situation is but I hope the U.S. State Department can handle this peacefully.
