Will TV ads be nearly as effective in this years presidential election By: Luis Ceja
With every election season comes a slew of tv ads from every candidate trying to get there message out there. It's estimated that 4.4 billion will be spent on tv ads this election season. With more and more focus on new media and more people cord cutting each year is it worth it. While most candidates are still focusing on tv ads some haven't wielded much results. Jeb bush has spent 100 million of his super pack's money on ads all in just new hampshire and iowa trying to get his numbers up. If you look at polling though it hasn't really worked. He's in 6th place with around 2% which is miles behind the likes of trump and cruz. I think this is showing and evolving way of using media. If you look at whose in the front in polls both democrat and republican it's the one's with more followers on social media. Those people have amassed large followings behind them and are the ones at the top of there respective polls. I.E donald trump and hillary clinton. Do I think twitter followers means winning a general election. No but those with more followers are faring better in the primaries.

I think the more you spend money on ads, the less votes you get. You pretty much just throwing away money for nothing.
ReplyDeleteMost people communicate and gain knowledge/information through social media so using this online popularity strategy can sometimes work in politicians favor.
ReplyDeleteI also think that candidates like trump benefit from the attention they get from the News after each outrageous thing they say.

This is very interesting to notice. Society is evolving and the candidates are trying to poll votes in new ways to match that change.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting topic because our generation is so tech savvy, these candidates really need to pay attention to what the new interests of people are so they don't end up wasting their time and money.

It's like political signs you see on the side of the road or in people's yards. I don't get the point of them.
