a sign was recently stolen from outside a church which stated "Black Lives Matter." at first the word black was covered up with "all" written on several pieces of paper and along with other phrases written on there. then when the people who worked at the church took it down, the word was completely painted over with black spray paint and was vandalized with this time a huge "all" covering it. then it was just altogether stolen. after their sign was stolen, they made a new banner where it read "black lives matter" but then at the bottom it reiterated the fact that they are aware that all lives matter.
i don't think that the people who stole the sign understand what the gravity of the phrase is. of course all lives matter, thats a given. however, in this point in time there is a huge gap of equality between whites and blacks that although has gotten better needs a lot of improvement. the phrase isn't suggesting that only black lives matter, its simply reinstating what a lot of people don't seem to understand these days. i think that the church made the right move by putting a new one up and putting on the sign that "all lives matter" but they really didn't do anything wrong in the first place. the fight for equality has been going on for centuries which is exactly what today (mlk day) is celebrating. MLK's famous speech is fighting for exactly what this church is fighting for.

I agree. Obviously all lives matter however this particular statement is trying to raise awareness of the lack of equality currently present in our country.
