Michigan Budgeting Effecting Children - Olivia Browne (Period 6)

There is a crisis in which the welfare of a major Michigan city's children were sacrificed in the budget-tightening process would be enough to concern any resident. That's the case in Michigan, which is dealing with "sickouts" staged by teachers fed up with the abominable conditions of public schools in the state's largest city, Detroit, while also grappling with the widespread lead poisoning of children and other residents in its seventh-largest city, Flint.

Analysis: The Author is Elliot C. McLaughlin and he appears to be a non-bias party. This article was created on January 14th, in reaction to the recent events, adding to the urgency. I had no prior knowledge of this event. The Audience is the concerned American public and this story has a negative effect on them. The reason for writing this article was to educate the American public on these occurrences. This directly relates to the education reforms during the Gilded Age and the poor conditions of the schools prior to the reforms.
