Synopsis: U.S. regulators have stated that Volkswagen and Porsche challenged a citation that 10,000 Porsches contained the cheating software VW used amid this cheating scandal to trick inspections and go against gas emission rules by the EPA. This mere 10,000 cars is a small number compared to the 11 million cars that are part of the worldwide scandal, but it would still be a serious blow to the company. VW denied the accusation saying that the cars didn't "alter emissions characteristics in a forbidden manner." Porche stated that they were clueless about this development, but they agreed to comply with authorities.
Analysis: This deception for the sake of making money is so common these days, as it has been common for all time. And at some point, the culprit usually is found out, and the price has to be paid. It seems ridiculous to me that Volkswagen thought it could get away with emission changing software. They got away with it for a long time, too. It's like Nixon's Watergate scandal that was revealed, which makes many wonder what the government gets away with doing and not get caught.
