Summary: At around 10 pm on Friday, a drunk driver in a pickup drove right into a house and killed Seth Corwin, a 16 year old boy who was just watching tv with his stepmother. The car went all the way into the kitchen, but fortunately no one else who was in the house was killed except for Seth. Indiana police officer states this was one of the three worst tragedies he'd ever had to respond to.
Analysis: I think this is actually pretty insane. I mean, imagine just sitting at home, watching tv. You'd expect to be the safest possible. It's just sad to see that the world has come to a point where people aren't even safe in their own homes. Drinking and Driving should never be a combination. First off, not only are you putting others in danger, but you're putting yourself in danger. Secondly, what's the point? Is it that hard to just call a cab? It's so easy nowadays. All you have to do is click a button. This sort of makes me go back to the temperance movement which I can definitely understand why that issue came up. People do many foolish things while under the influence of alcohol especially. It is the number one drug that is responsible for the lives of many. I feel like limits should be put in place or some stronger solution should be created to prevent this drug from taking more innocent lives. Seth Corwin didn't deserve to die so young and especially the way he did. I hope this is a wake up call for people to realize how bad this situation is.

this is a clear example of the fact that we aren't even safe in our own homes. his life was taken in a place where he felt the safest. the fact that an awful thing like that could happen at any moment is terrifying.
ReplyDeleteIts hard to imagine that the place most of us feel safest at isn't much safer than any where else we could be.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as a safe place anymore we all think are homes are safe but they are open to anything such as thefts, things like this, and false sense of security. We tend for our homes to be safe and we tell anyone that they are but the truth is its no safer than anywhere else.
