Obama recently released the new policy of banning the box. This means that criminals no linger have to check the box identifying them as such when they are applying for a job. This now delays when employers find the criminal record.
This has positive and negative effects. This gives inmates an easier entrance back into society. They have an opportunity to prove themselves before the background check is done. This is an effective new way to help better integrate inmates back into society. The positive effects seem to outweigh the negative repercussions at this point.

This is a great chance for convicts to get their life back on track. Although they could commit a crime again, they do have a chance for more trust before a background check.

ReplyDeleteThis is good and bad, good because they get to have another chance to redeem themselves and get their lives back on track but it can also be dangerous because not all people turn out good in the end. -Carli Copell

ReplyDeleteI mean it's nice that people get a fresh start, but then again what if there is some looney released from jail and no one knows he's a looney? Whoops.
