Missouri players strike
Missouri football players (and others) are pressuring Missouri University's administration to stop racial incidents on campus. Incidents of racism, sexism, and homophobia have been reported by students in the last 90 days on the campus. Most complaints have been directed toward Tim Wolfe, the president of the University of Missouri, who has acknowledged that racism is a problem on campus in a statement responding to all the complaints. Majority of the college's football team has refused and play and practice until the problem is fixed. As a result, President Wolfe has said he will work with several representatives at the university to come up with a systematic plan to solve the problem.
We have obviously come far from segregated schools, water fountains, and public restaurants, however racism still exists in America. Groups like the one on the Missouri campus acknowledge that racism is still a huge problem throughout our country and needs to be fixed by those who are supposed to ensure that their school experience is safe and enjoyable. Discrimination in our country is not unheard of, but unlike the past, those being affected are able to raise their voices and fight back, which is starting to make an even bigger change than in the 1960's. I one day hope that this country (and world) is discrimination free and that we can all just learn to accept one another no matter how much we differ.

I'm glad that this is being put at a top priority for them even enough for their football team to go on strike, which is a big deal for a college during this season...unfortunately.
