Missing Boy Found 13 years Later//Arianna Sotero 1st period

Summary: Julian Hernandez, age 5 at the time, was reported missing on August 28, 2002 in Alabama. Julian, age 18 currently, was found and identified this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio in custody of his father. The case broke when Julian was applying for colleges and realized his social security number didn't match his name. A school counselor worked with Julian to find out why and discovered that he was listed on National Center for Missing and Exploiting Children database. After a call to the police, Julian was finally  reunited with his mother and family back in Ohio. His father, Bobby Hernandez has been arrested and charged.

Analysis: This story relates back to a kidnapping case (that we haven't covered yet) that occurred in 1932 and it is one of the most famous cases in history. A 20 month old toddler was abducted from his home in New Jersey and found 2 months later, dead, across the New Jersey state line. After a 2 year investigation, a man was found guilty and sentenced to death. This case made transporting a kidnapped victim out of state boundaries a federal crime. We learn from cases like this in history so we can make a difference in cases today.

  2. That's so scary that the boy had no idea that he had been taken! It's a good thing he found all of that out though!
