Kenley Turner 3rd period- Antarctic Melting Irreversible in 60 years

Summery: The collapse of the Antarctic ice sheet is expected to begin in 60 years due to greenhouse gasses. The conditions are irreversable if the conditions dont change by the end of the 60 year time limit. Scientists fear a chain reaction that will result from this, including unstable  ocean conditions. Scientists are using computer models to simulate long term predictions. Theyre not sure if there is any hope, for climate change is already taking place.

analysis: There is obviously plently of evidence that climate change is currently happening. So far, in this article, it did not really explain how we are going to fix it, but just explained observations and predictions made. This is usually the problems politics make. People know how to identify issues, but they are too lazy to come up with a solution. For example, with the articles of confederation, the anti federalists realized there were issues, however, refused to invent a resolver. I think this issue, however, is not something that only science can fix, but the rest of the world. there is just too many people to convince everyone to change their lifestyle, especially when an alarming number of those people do not even believe in climate change (how??). I feel like most people would rather dump the problem on our children.

  1. Its scary to think about the unknown, and luckily by the time the 60 years is up we will all be up there in age, but its the fact that there will be a new generation of teenagers living, just like us now. I just think its unfair that future generations will have to deal with this horrible mess that "we" caused.

  2. If these predictions are at all likely why are there not laws being placed that will help our planet! The planet should be our number one priority and sadly i think that laws are the only way anything will get changed as people wont change their ways unless they are forced to.
