Fugitive nabbed after posting Facebook selfies from Mexico
US Marshals recently captured the escaped criminal with the help of social media. Nicholas Grove, escaped Payette County Jail in Idaho and trailed to Mexico after being behind bars on gun and burglary charges. Who knew that social media would come in handy to finding an escaped criminal! Well when US marshals were looking on Facebook they had found out that he had been in Cancun Mexico by the selfies he was posting and by his caption he wrote a day after he escaped saying, "I've had more help from total strangers thank any of my 'friends' or family." After they caught him in Tellum, Mexico he was then transported back to Idaho to be put back in prison.
Analysis: This story is just so crazy to me that social media came in handy for something as serious as this. In todays generation, social media has been known to leading to many problems. Facebook this and Instagram that... there is always some kind of issue stemming from these popular apps/websites. In this particular case though Facebook came in great assistance to this investigation. The report is still being unfolded currently, but what a crazy outcome of this story!
