Ecosystem Found on Washed Up Light Bulb - Isabella Montague

An old light bulb washed up ashore an Australian beach, and a whole ecosystem was found in it.
The bulb, which was floating in the water, was covers in an assortment of marine life such as two crabs and gooseneck barnacles. The bulb of life was put back into the water after the picture was taken.

I think this is fascinating! It's amazing that marine life like these can cling to and find life on glass. This is just one example of how organisms can live in the strangest of places. Animals have often had to adapt to their environment in order to survive there, and make any necessary changes in order to not only live, but prosper. It's happened in history countless times, when people migrated and had to live on foreign land and make the most of it. When people migrated to North America, it's was difficult for them to survive in the new world, shown in the countless of deaths in settlements like Jamestown. But we adapted, and managed to make a life in this land, just like the marine life found a home of the light bulb.

  1. I think this is so cool! Just shows that living things have crazy abilities to adapt to extreme/ unnatural circumstances.
