Apparently bands are cancelling gigs at sea world because of the controversy that arose from CNN's "blackfish" documentary. The film focuses on the 2010 killing of a whale trainer by an orca. It also showcases other devastating events that have occured at seaworld including the deaths of animals and the cruel way they are held captive. Sea World argues that the video in no way tells the whole story. There is not one interview with a Sea World visitor who has learned more about the animals through there experience etc. Sea World claims that the film was not the reason for past cancellations. They were do scheduling errors. However, some of the bands have said publicly that they did cancel because of the video's controversy.
I was reading the comment section and many people feel very passionate about this subject. Some argue that with whales it is inhumane but if it were dogs it would be ok. Others seem to rage about an all out war on humans because of there cruelty to all animals. I personally don't know how I feel. I mean I love puppies. And I also love going to the zoo. I have never been to sea world, but I think there is a difference between having a lion in a large open area and a whale in a swimming pool. I for one would not want to be captured and forced to do tricks for my food. And yet it seems like society already does that. The number of people, young people, going to prison in America everyday is rising. Just like those baby whales ripped from their mothers. And it's all because the whale or human did something that didn't fit into the society that allowed it to be captured. It wasn't fast or strong enough or had some mental defects. Personally I think all imprisonment is wrong, especially when the new habitat is considerably smaller than the original. Because being able to move and rome is in the nature of all animals, including humans.

I do agree that animals such as whales should not be kept in captivity. Whales need many miles of water to swim and exercise, not be kept in some tank for people to gawk at them. I always enjoyed going to the zoo as a kid, but places like Sea World are being unfair to the animal's nature to be free.
