"Homeless man held after high-speed ferry commandeered in Seattle"

Summary:

At the Seattle waterfront a homeless man jumped the fence and hijacked a high-speed fairy transporting passengers between Washington and Canada. The man, Samuel Kenneth McDonough, locked himself in the boat's wheelhouse and not knowing how to steer, drifted the boat into the region's bay. He was captured and put in jail on Monday with a bail of $200,000. His documents said that he had been previously arrested on burglary, mischief, endangerment, and was accused of being a sex offender. This event made people, including the Clipper Navigation Inc (owner of the Seattle ferry), realize the need for more security on Washington's ferries.

Analysis:

It surprises me that someone would think that they could hijack a big boat with many passengers and not get caught. This does bring attention to the fact that not only Washington, but all ports, need more improved security systems. People become so trusting of others to the point where they do not think of the dangers that can easily occur, such as this, on any normal day.

I agree, we should have more security so that these things don't happen. It would be really scary if I was on that ferry.
