And this is what happens when we don't listen to science- Francesca Bartos 2nd

A rise in pine beetle populations that is DIRECTLY LINKED to Global warming has caused devastating damage to the pine forests of New Jersey. This is a prime example of how small changes in weather such as a rise in temperature at night can seriously harm an ecosystem. The bitter cold nights which used to tone down the beetle population have thawed allowing the insect to thrive. So what? Now there are more beetles, but they damage trees which are a source of food, and shelter for other animals. Trees also prevent soil erosion, the chain reaction is endless. And I am going to just copy and paste a direct paragraph here

Scientists say it is a striking example of the way seemingly small climatic changes are disturbing the balance of nature. They see these changes as a warning of the costly impact that is likely to come with continued high emissions of greenhouse gases."

I would not normally rely so heavily on a quote but this is ridiculous and human negligence makes me sad.

  1. Wow, that is sad. It's weird how global warming can have so many effects.

  2. As humans we feel very entitled to everything (the environment) around us, and we treat it accordingly which is without a lot of care and with a lot of damaging effects. It's sad that we can't take the time to take care of both ourselves and the land which we live on, but I hope that one day we're able to reverse our damaging effects before there's no way to fix them.
