On Facebook, growing teenage wasteland Arlesia McGowan Period 4

This is no old news.....we all know that Facebook is one of the most notorious for posting who knows what. Besides the fact, privacy settings are a key player in using Facebook, so the nosy public won't look at all of our stuff right? Well what if that changed? What if the public was able to look at everything your posting? I have good news...it has changed. Recently, Facebook changed its privacy settings for teens, warning that the public can see everything and anything they post. Regardless, Facebook acknowledges that teen users are becoming less active on the site as time has progressed. Teens state that the reason being so is because of all the "drama" that Facebook has caused and the increased presence which has been bought more adults. Yeah its getting old...
I actually totally agree that Facebook is beginning to go down hill mainly because although teens are starting to look away from it, many are still on it every single day. This leads to attention from another audience...our elders. Now since they seem to be on there, we are attracted to other social media that is lessening our attention to Facebook like, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Honestly, I think that Facebook won't literally die away like MySpace did or what have you. It won't be as popular anymore, but it has set a name for itself to where it can never really disappear because so many sites are linked with Facebook. So, there.

  1. I agree that facebook is becoming less and less popular by the day. I used to go on every single day and post pictures and statuses and know it's rare if I go on once a week. I guess it is a good thing that teens are staying away from facebook, but we can only hope that the inappropriate behavior won't transfer over to the another social networking sites.

  2. With each new generation will come new social media sites. The major sites such as Facebook, tumblr, and Instagram, will hopefully stay afloat. Personally, Facebook is an interesting, fun pastime. I do not see myself shying away from it, and I do not see Facebook sinking anytime soon.

  3. I feel in many ways the "disappearance" of Facebook is neither good nor bad. People can post stupid stuff on any social media outlet. (I mean just look at the whole case with Vine). I'm no expert on all this because (call me old fashioned), but I still only have a Facebook. From what it seems Instagram and Twitter and all those others are less private than Facebook. It's all so superficial, really. I mean 13 year olds make fun of me because I still have a Facebook and "that is so yesterday". But ironically, it sillier to care so heavily about a social media site going out of date than it is to have something out of date... If that makes any sense.
