L.A. shooting and airport security levels

Summary:
After the Los Angles International Airport shooting that took place on November 1st, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) realizes that it would be difficult to control the areas outside of the security perimeter. It is almost impossible to prevent another shooting at an airport because it is part of an open society, just like malls and stadiums for example. The shooting began at the TSA checkpoint, where they check for weapons before boarding the plane. This proves that no matter how far the security is, the risk does not decrease. They can only make sure something like this does not happen on an airplane.

Analysis:
I completely understand how it would be difficult to have security surrounding the entire airport. Airports are public places with thousands of people and there is no way every single person who walks in can be searched before they step foot in the building. Also, this brings up the issue of gun control rights. People will believe that the government is going to try to take away the right for citizens to bear arms, especially after the many random shootings that have been happening recently.

  1. It's hard for me to understand the people who think the government is trying to away are gun rights when all they are trying to do is make gun purchasing harder for people with a dark past.

  2. Felicia Padilla5 th period- whoever expects that we should be able to stop all gun violence probably also believes that just because there are doctors, nobody will get sick.

  3. Jasmine Easter- I feel like they should do something about gun control rights. Even if you do need special documentation to get a gun, almost anyone can get a hold of one. With that being said it makes it easier for situations like this to occur. The more people with Guns the larger the risk there is that someone will cause a shooting.

  4. I agree with what Felicia said. Just because they want to try to take away the right to bear arms doesn't mean that will stop gun shootings. There will always be a risk of gun shootings.
