The thrilling ride at Six Flags, The Texas Giant, is now operating after a woman fell out of her seat and died. The ride was closed for nearly two months and just reopened on Saturday, September 14. The accident happened on July 19th. Fox 4 spoke to people leaving the park and all had heard about the accident involving Rosy Esparza. However, the familiarity yielded no hesitance for others to ride the roller coaster. According to Fox 4, there were long lines of people waiting to ride. Of course, there are new safety measures for the riders such as new lap bars and seat belts. The employees will go through a detailed restraint check for every ride.
The Esparza family has indeed sued Six Flags. The family says, “The lap bas were never meant to fit everyone of every size.” In response, Six Flags has not said much except that they did a thorough investigation of the roller coaster and did not find any mechanical issues.
This story is very sad to hear about. When you go to an amusement park, you expect to be safe on every ride. The puzzling thing to me about this story is that no mechanical issues were found after the accident. This just shows how cautious we need to be and make sure that things are safe.
I hope the ride is truly safe now! Although thousands of people get off rides such as this one safely every day, accidents can happen. I am glad to hear that Six Flags will be taking new protective measures.
ReplyDeleteThat is so frightening. I think they should've condemned the ride since someone's LIFE was lost by a malfunctioning seat belt. Personally, i think we don't value someones life until its one of our own family members and that is not the way we should be thinking. America has always had a sense of pride and the fact that we don't consider every citizen of this country as family just shows the direction we are all headed as a community at large.
ReplyDeleteI love going to six flags and enjoying the roller coasters and rides. But after hearing about this tragedy, it's really hard for me to think about going there again. It is a super sad story. I can't help but think how devestated I would be if this happened to my own mother. I personally think that something had to have gone wrong with the seat belt or something.

ReplyDeleteThere should have been a better seat and seatbelt a long time ago. I never ride rides because of what happened to that poor women nobody knows what might happen! And it's sad that someone had to die for them to get more careful And safe.
