President Barack Obama is questioning how the US should react to a chemical attack caused by Syria; however right now no decisions have been finalized. Representative Janice Hahn states that "the case is trying to be made that this use of chemical weapons puts our national security at risk", which would give the reason to start a War with Syria. However, Congress might have a different opinion. Proof has been found that suggests that Syria was behind the attack, so the UN is positive that the accusation is justified. Lawmakers won't be back to make any quick decisions until September 9, so therefore no quick decision can be made at the moment. Obama has decided to consult with Congress over the issue, which Senator Rand Paul applauds. Senator John McCain wants to know if there is a plan and a strategy for the attack. He also states that if "Congress overrules a decision of the president of the United States on an issue of national security, that could set a catastrophic precedent in the future. It would be a very dangerous precedent to be setting." Even though the evidence seems to be undeniably accurate, the United Nations is asking for world leaders to wait on their decisions until further investigation takes place.
This article really seems to show all points of views internationally. It shows how America is viewing it, how other countries are viewing the situation, and even how Syria is viewing the issue. I didn't really know much about this topic before hand, but after reading this article I have concluded that it is a serious event, and I believe that something big will happen either in order to resolve it, or because of the lack of resolving the situation. Even if the United States does not go to War, it's possible that another country will, or that Syria could form another attack. Despite what happens in the future, I think it is very smart for the UN to advise world leaders to wait on the issue. Even though it seems that very good evidence has been created, investigating and thinking about the issue is probably the best thing to do. War is a very serious encounter, and even though it might be necessary at times, it should be avoided at all costs in my opinion. Also, if America were to go into war we would need an attack plan, as well as a finance plan. I believe that this article was written to better inform people in America, but also around the world, of what other Nation's thoughts are about the attack and what could possibly happen in the future.
