Salustiano Sanchez died at age 112 on
Friday the 13th in Western New York. As the oldest man to have been alive in
the United States of America, he had experienced several decades of global
adaptation. He originated from Spain as a musician to migrate to Cuba becoming
a sugar plantation worker. After so many years of labor Sanchez found himself
in America's Blue Grass state Kentucky working the coal mines. After marrying
his wife in Niagara Falls he continues on a happy life as an American. As his
age increased, so did publicity by the Guinness World Record Book. Although
they had taken much interest in Sanchez, he did not care much for the fame;
Feeling that his age was not an instigator for success or accomplishment.
A man who has the
ability to live for 112 years is one worth recognizing. "A banana a
day" was how he described his success to a growing age. The idea that he
looked at the consumption of his daily banana as a health aid in comparison to
an apple could be a way to encourage children and adults to take consideration
to their diet and eat more natural foods. However, later in the article the
author degrades the empathetic structure of Salustiano Sanchez's story by
outdoing him with other foreign elders of higher age marks. Regardless to the
authors down play, the light out of his excess information is the idea of long
life is now becoming a common possibility.

That's so cool! I find it heartwarming that despite living in so many different countries, he identified himself as an American. It's also funny how with modern medicine, his secret was a banana a day. I'll be sure to go out and buy some bananas for my lunch.
ReplyDeleteThat is incredible, i would love to know if he ever wrote anything about the evolution of time! How people have changed, technology, and much more!
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting! It's weird to imagine seeing all of those changes in the world in one lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThat is nifty! I agree with Sam; what a spectacle to see the events of a century unfold. Maybe I should go purchase some more bananas.
ReplyDeleteAAHHHHH!!! how cute I absolutely adore old people! Maybe Mr. Brown has something going with his banana a day! Maybe I should start!!
