School heat Trick-No Treat!

The first day of school may not have been the ideal first day for most students living in the southern section of the U.S. . Most of the schools have had hard times trying to pay the bills to get the air fixed. For most students it wasnt  pleasent  having to bring moist towels ,fans and bottled water. "Thinking about air conditioning -- we can't even afford new textbooks," said Bement Community Unit School District Superintendent Sheila Greenwood, who oversees a tiny district of 380 students about 20 miles southwest of Champaign, Ill.

  1. This is so sad considering the fact that we are able to afford air condition and books and lots of other things in school for extracurricular activities.

  2. Wow, everytime I hear things like this, it reminds me of all the simple things that I frequently take for granted, as well as the amazing, unique opportunities provided at BTWHSPVA. Many thanks to the people at Booker T. who make all these things possible, and many prayers for those students who don't get to have these privileges but deserve them just the same.

  3. Woah, that's insane, I couldn't even imagine being in that position. To be honest I didn't even know things like this existed. Great choice of article ! Wish you could've expounded a little more. Still a good choice!

  5. Well that's really upsetting. Heat has a way of making you want to cuss, or fight. Learning would definitely not be on my mind. Good job in finding this article.

  6. It sad that school boards are basically acting like slum land lords and there is no disciplinary action being taken. With taxes and government funds being alloted for every child that attends school why are they constantly not able to provide the basic needs for children to get an education. Those in charge of the budget and dispersing funds should turn off their air conditioning to appreciate and show understanding to the teachers and students that are made to suffer day after day.

  7. This is so crazy that we afford so much and more; while people are still struggling to even get an education!

  8. Wow, this is really saddening to think that a school district would allow these kids to have to go all day with no air conditioning, let alone not see it as a priority to have fixed. In this society, education is one of the most important things in a child's life, and we should be doing everything possible to make sure every kid gets a fair education in an ideal-- and air conditioned-- environment!
