Two Men Bitten By Sharks Off Florida Coast

An article published by Janet DiGiacomo and Greg Botehlo with CNN on September 8, 2013. Saturday afternoon off New Smyrna Beach, two men were bitten by sharks in the Florida Coast; one of them in their 20's and the other the middle 40's. They say the men were just knee-deep into the water when they were bitten. They were both bitten about 100 yards apart, one in the chins and another in the foot.  The two victims had to go to the nearby Bert Fish Medical Center of what authorities described as nonlife-threatening injuries. Most all the shark attacks happen off the Florida Coast more than any of the other states combined, the number of shark bites fluctuates within the recent years; 51 attacks in 2001, 26 in 2009, and 53 just last year.

I honestly feel that if they have had been having this many shark attacks instead of letting it happen and the rates get higher and higher; do something about it! It's crazy that we now have to worry about going to a beach and worrying about getting bitten. They need to come up with some solution to try and fix this problem before someone get seriously injured or much worse dies.

  1. Wow, that's crazy and very alarming when you think about it! It seems as if the number of humans getting bit by sharks increases tremendously as the years go on. I agree with you completely that there does need to be a solution to this issue because it is becoming out of hand! We sould not have to worry about sharks in the water when we want to enjoy the beach.
