More NSA criticism- Kyla cakarnis apush 4th

The United States government's program, the NSA, has recently received a lot of attention. Most recently, they have been accused of spying on Google, Brazil's oil firm Petroleo, and the presidents of Brazil and Mexico. There are also more unverified accusations that the NSA spied on systems operated by France's foreign ministry and the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, an international bank cooperation. There has also been more spying on innocent American citizens. The United States claims that they do not collect economic, financial, or trade information.

I think the U.S delves into information that should not necessarily be useful for "national security" purposes. The rest of the world is beginning to see through this and America is losing its credibility. Especially at a time when the actions of United States leaders are being questioned in other topics, such as the situation in Syria.

  2. I agree with your statement. I do not think it is really right for us to be spying on google when nearly everyone uses it.

  3. I am skeptical about the allegations regarding the NSA's supposed spying on the presidents of Brazil and Mexico; certainly no more than standard international correspondence and news updates would be enough. As for Google, well, it is a major commercial search engine. It makes sense that the government has been monitoring it, for it's right there and everyone uses it. The goal of the NSA is to prevent threats to national security, and they have been successful before. And when people accuse them of invading privacy, I must ask with some humor: why, are you hiding something?
