Nia Edwards- Mom Charged after 2 Children Found Dead in Southern California Hotel Room

According to the CNN article written by Janet DiGiacomo, a woman “tried to commit suicide Saturday night by crashing her car into the protective poles surrounding an electric box” in a Home Depot store parking lot in Costa Mesa, California.  She was found trying to strangle herself with a cord around her neck. When the police had taken her from the car she mentioned and incident at a nearby hotel, Hampton Inn & Suites.  The officers searched her hotel room and found two children, dead. It was unclear to them the amount of time the children were there and the manner in which they died. The police have not released the woman’s name for they do not want to risk the family of the children finding out from the media.

This article written on September 15^th, 2013, was very disturbing to me. The fact that the mother tried to kill herself before anyone found out about her children was the part that really hit me.  I realize the mother may have been very unstable but, I still don’t understand how anyone could do that to their own children. I do feel that it was a good idea on the part of the authorities to not release any names for the sake of the family.
