A man in San Francisco going to his favorite football teams seasonal game, the 49ers, did not expect to die. He was walking along with his brother on a walkway and fell to his death on the sidewalk below. How? Eyewitnesses say that he was drinking before he fell.
This seems to happen a lot at sports events. In Georgia a man fell from the top rem of the arena, a fan died in Tennessee falling 45 feet at a college football game, and yes, even in Texas a fan at a rangers game was trying to catch a ball being thrown at him by Josh Hamilton. He fell 20 feet. I bet Josh felt pretty bad about that one. All of these people were also most likely drinking.
Does this mean that we stop going to games in fear of falling to our death? NO! It means that we should be sober enough to know what we are doing and be aware of our surroundings. And if Josh Hamilton 'tries' to throw you a ball, DO NOT CATCH IT.

This is so sad. People need to know their limits more. You can have fun but at least be safe about it.

There should be more safety precautions as these situations keep coming up. If people refuse to sober up at games then at the very least there should be a bar or something to stop people from falling over the side.

I don't think they should make any changes because of one persons bad judgment. In the report, he was reportedly drinking so he was bound to make a stupid mistake. I think natural selection should just run it's course.

I don't think that it's fair to say that all of the victims were "most likely drinking". I think that these incidents very well could have been accidental (such as in the case of the man falling at the Texas Rangers' game, when the man was reaching for a ball thrown to him) in which a person simply lost their balance while leaning over a railing. That's not to say that in many cases alcohol was in fact the cause for these deaths.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't smart to go to any game or event like this if you have been drinking a lot. It could be very dangerous like this article says and you could make a fool of yourself and get in a fight. I think that people need to make better decisions about drinking.
