Firefighters Battle in Yosemite National Park - Angel Pineda (1st Pd)

Summary: Today in California, a massive wildfire has occurred in Yosemite National Park. According to Andrea Capps (spokeswoman for the Rim Fire command center), "Crews working through the night got an edge on the so-called Rim Fire, a 350-square mile (906-square km) blaze that has charred the California park's Northwest." 4,500 homes were threatened from the fire's northwest/western borders as firefighters have placed that specific area under containment. As firefighters continue to get rid of 60% of the fire, it is speculated by fire analysts that the fire will be fully secured by September 20th.

Thoughts: Personally, I feel that the fire itself will be destroying more animal habitats and possibly harm the animals and their health even more if firefighters don't secure the fire quickly and efficiently. If the fire is completely secured by September 20th, there is a chance that more habitats will be destroyed compared to what's already destroyed. If firefighters work faster with this situation, they could save more habitats now and make the atmosphere much more safer and easier to breathe in. Get rid of the fire before it harms the environment.
