Diana Nyad is an endurance swimmer who's lifelong goal has been to swim the 110 mile distance between Cuba and Florida. In her fifth attempt since 1978, she finally makes it across the Floridian Straits. In previous attempts, some hitches included asthma attacks and very rough ocean currents, but the most important one that prevented her from success until now, was jelly fish stings. This time she wore a special wet suit to block out the stinging tentacles of the jelly fish. She even had on a special mask to stop them from reaching her tongue. One of her messages to the public is "never ever give up".
It's exciting to see people almost fifty years older than me be in better shape and accomplish incredible feats I would've otherwise thought to be impossible. Nyad's determination, in her years, is uplifting and shows that there are people out there who are fantastically self-motivated enough to do somewhat insane things. Not only did she break the record for longest distance, but she broke the record for longest distance without a shark tank. This woman is truly an inspiration to me, I aspire to be as motivated as she.

I also agree it is amazing to see people who are very old in shape and accomplish amazing things. It does show that people are motivated to reach their goals instead of doing nothing with their lives. Truly amazing.

Wow! This woman is truly amazing. She is definitely an inspiration to me as well. I would love to be able to set my mind to something and actually accomplish it. Hopefully one day I will reach my goals just like Diana did.
