Boys, Girls, Americans by Imani Williams

My article was about the Major education gap in American classrooms. Unlike most articles surrounding this topic, this article focused on the Gender gap, while mentioning the ethnical statistics as well. The title is ironic to be because it reminds me of Black Civil rights: Browns did not have the privilege to sit at the fronts of trains or busses, but when they were granted the right, they acted on it every chance they could! Likewise, females at one point weren't even allowed to attend school and now we excel (and sit in the front). This ties directly in to how females are now the dominant force in the work place. It also highlights a major social recurrence in how we as Americans tend to act. Once we are used to something, we don't fight to keep it, we treat everything like it is owed to us or like we deserve it just for being. We as a people have become so lazy that not only have we stopped pushing each other, but we have fallen behind academically as well as professionally, to other super power countries.

  1. I like this article. The truth as you state is that women have become a dominant force and nature but it is true that we have become lazy and we have stopped to fight for what we want.

  2. I don't understand how people do not fight for what they want. Maybe it depends on your upbringing but for myself, I am always fighting for everything I want. I think it distinguishes the professionals who get every job (as we say in the dance industry) and who are ALWAYS working and the ones who complain about everything who are unprofessional.

  4. True, America has become so lazy. Probably why America is so far behind in important subjects like math and science. But I think its cool that girls and beating boys in the classroom... Go us.
