The Census Bureau has prepared two censuses for the next year as the Supreme Court makes the decision of whether or not to include the question regarding citizenship. The Bureau say that they plan to decide by the beginning of July, and claim that they are likely to include an electronic version of the census that will give the option of answering the question or not. Though President Trump tweeted “that the census ‘would be meaningless and a waste’ of money without the citizenship question”, both options have already been budgeted in preparation of the ultimate decision.
In the past the census has had the citizenship question, but as of recent it has been up for debate. This article is directed towards the public, as author Gregory Wallace explains the plans the the Census Bureau has as far as next year’s census. It is important for Americans to express their opinions as far as whether or not they believe that the citizenship question should be implemented, and to do this they need to be aware of the government’s current situation.
Just as the citizenship question is up for debate in the months before the Supreme Court decision, the Equal Rights Act was up for debate before the vote against its ratification. The Equal Rights Act stated that men and women had equal rights and while this sounds nice, the majority of citizens believed that it would allow husbands to be lazy when it came to taking care of their families, and that women could be equal through the use of labor-reducing products (i.e. washing machine). The ERA was not ratified as a result of the strong debate against it.

I think citizenship shouldn't be added to the list.
