This week a South Carolina college student mistook a random car for her Uber ride and ended up dead in a field by the end of the night. Samantha Josephson was waiting alone on the curb of a club around 2 a.m. in the morning. Security footage showed her getting into a black Chevy Impala. Later that night she was found by a group of Turkey hunters with stab wounds to her head, legs, arms, neck, face, and upper body. Nathaniel Rowland was pulled over in a black Chevy Impala. Once pulled over, the police found Josephson's blood and her cell phone in the car. Rowland was then arrested and charged with the murder of Samantha Josephson, and hearing will follow.
This relates to history because violence against women has carried throughout history for years now. The audience is anyone who used to just get in Ubers without checking the license plate or asking for the drivers name, and to be more careful. The purpose is to inform and be wary of sketchy characters. The point of view is CNN so I believe they're trustworthy. The importance of women being careful is immeasurable but also, we can't let the story of Samantha Josephson become another of thousands of cautionary tales.
This is why women can't be alone at night or anytime because of this messed up system. To be honest, you shouldn't be calling up an Uber at 2 AM, you're just asking to be abducted.
ReplyDeleteThis is very important and i hope people learn from this and more careful when taking Uber.
