As of today, the Trump administration decided to name Iran's elite military Revolutionary Guard Corps as a foreign terrorist organization to increase economic and political pressure on the Islamic Regime in Tehran. This is the first time in U.S. history that the government labeled another foreign government as a terrorist group. Trump justifies this action by stating that it "sends a clear message to Tehran that its support for terrorism has serious consequences." The IRGC has grown into Iran's most powerful military unit with unchecked political influence and interests in the economy. Mark Dubowitz is in favor of the designation.
Despite a large amount of political figures supporting the decision, others are cautious towards it. Some military and intelligence officials claimed that that type of action could be used on the U.S. from foreign countries and become a precedent in the future. For better or worse, this is a new action that could change foreign policy little by little.

Truly scary how without much detail leading to the designation that people will automatically agree. But there is caution to be had due to the IRGC being a very powerful arm of the military.
