Are Lyft/Uber safe?-Anna Speer

In the past few years, Lyft and Uber have been over taking Taxis as the transportation of choice for many needing rides to destinations.  But are these two companies and their drivers regulated enough? A South Carolina student was killed over the weekend thinking she was entering an Uber ride but instead another vehicle that eventually led to her death.  There is video showing Samantha Joesephson, 21, mistakenly entering a dark car around 2:00 am after summoning a ride just minutes earlier. Her body was found the next day 70 miles away and the driver was picked up by the police the same day.  While this industry has alleviated a lot of driving under the influence by individuals, why it is not regulated? Should it be? Was this a malicious man looking for a victim or something else? This young woman's life should at least cause further discussion.

  1. This is so terrible to hear. Uber and Lyft should be most definitely be more regulated, perhaps with a clear sign on the vehicle or identification proving the driver works for one of these companies.
