The Public Dislikes the Wall and Trump - Chloe Meinershagen

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/18/politics/polling-roundup-shutdown/index.html

Through numerous polls given to the American people, we can learn about the public opinion of the government situation. It is obvious that many Americans have opposition to building a wall. Another observation it that most of the public think the White House is to blame, 7 in 10 dislike shutting down the government as a tactic to build the wall, and a few see the wall as a good way to stop illegal immigration. Interestingly, 61% of voters said that they would be willing to pay a tax for border security rather than building a wall. Only about 40% of Americans want a wall to build built, and 95% of Democrats think that building a wall is ineffective. In every poll majority of Americans think Trump is to blame for the government shut down, approval rates for Trump are below 40%, while before the shut down the approval was over 40%.

Previously to this article I was assuming that Trump was disliked by the public. I can see that some still agree with Trump, but no one who does is in the majority of the country opinion. This is important because people who do agree with Trump should look into why so many are disagreeing with the wall, or why people dislike Trump. This article was written very informational and unbiased in opinion. I can compare Trump's low approval ratings to President Truman, who had the worst disapproval rating, 22% at one point in his presidency.

  1. I'm glad that articles like this are being written to present the facts and convince people to look into the hard truth instead of what they've been told. Politics in America have never been so dicey, so it is important that we educate ourselves.
