22 Immigrants died in the ICE detention centers during the past 2 years- Nathan Navejas

22 Immigrants died in the ICE detention centers during the past 2 years

The twenty-two immigrants that have died in the nation's sprawling network of detention centers over the past two years came to the United States from countries as far-flung as Vietnam, and as close as Mexico. Some had been longtime legal residents, arriving as refugees or students. Many were young, and not even half were fourty-five years old yet. Thirty-three year old transgender woman from Honduras arrived arrived at the U.S. border seeking asylum as part of a migrant caravan. She died within two weeks of entering ICE custody. Hernandez's death, along with the recent deaths of two young children held by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, has brought renewed scrutiny to immigrants in the federal government's custody. Personally, just even writing about this hurts, these harmless people are just looking for better opportunity here and want to live the best lives. ICE is not the best solution for investigation towards criminal and terrorists activity. There is just always better solutions for solving problems like this. 1. The government needs to realize that not everyone is a bad person.

  2. I've watched a couple documentaries targeted toward what happens with immigrants and I've seen how badly and unfairly they're treated. Actual human beings are in the care of other humans and they are dying and it's pitiful. -Jendayi Harris
