Chloe Meinershagen - North and South Korea: The Scariest Place in the World

https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/25/asia/north-south-korea-dmz-intl/index.html

North and South Korea have started demilitarizing the JSA, Joint Security Area, otherwise known as the notorious border area of complete hostility, where armed men stand on either side 24/7. South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un are starting to change the precedent of this area. Each political leader crossed the border, and they are removing all guns and mines in the area. The JSA will now be monitored by 70 unarmed soldiers, 35 from North Korea, and 35 from South Korea and the UN. Donald Trump has been meeting with Kim, in hopes to create a peaceful relationship between America and North Korea.

My previous knowledge on this subject is vague. I knew that North and South Korea had been speaking about peace, but it is so incredible that they are getting rid of the JSA! It has always been a terrifying spot, and the fact that it's gone is sort of blowing my mind. The JSA is one of the still standing relics of the Cold War, something very similar is the Berlin Wall. The Berlin wall was originally created to separate the western "facists" from entering communist East Berlin. This is a perfect mirror for the JSA in North and South Korea, which split the country in two and held hostility for decades. Lets hope there can be more peace with North Korea in the future.
