Many Children cross the border from Mexico(Latin america )to the U.S to have a better and brighter future, but also many of them are being taken away in the middle of the night , without warning by federal officers and being taken in a bus to live in a tent city with temperatures of 100 degrees and with only a limited space of 450 people. These kids are provided with no education and are surrounded by a thousand other kids wanting to go back to their parents and living with fear. According to the New York Times , this is the reality of 13,000 migrant children being held in detention centers across the country. The Trump administration's policies toward migrant children has created a term "tender age centers'' which presents the truth of the "Billion dollar business" of holding children in shelters run by companies that operate prisons. Immigration and customs enforcement has tried to stop journalist from reporting about this nightmare. Children are also being sexually abused by some of the workers at these detention centers... If the United States continues to treat children like prisoners , the question is not if but when they will start to die soon under such conditions.
This article was published by CNN news and written by Alice Driver . This article was published in October 1st 2018 and it was just today . The number of children that are being taken away from their families is increasing rapidly. I knew that this was happening , it makes me sick to my stomach since this hits close to home . I honestly didn't know people could be so heartless and terrible. Many of these children are coming to the U.S for a better future , opportunities and better life style but what they get is the act of suffering and sadness. This was happening even when Obama was president but kids weren't kept away from their families for too long and there was only 2,400 children . I can't even imagine the pain and fear of being alone and even being sexually abused. This was written for all the families that need to stay updated about the horrifying reality to be in America . This article is important , so others can stop sugar coding America . The Author focuses on many immigration topics and she's against the terrible treatment of children.

I like how you mentioned that this was happening during Obama's presidency, but not the the extent of how it is occurring during Trump's presidency. This raises several questions on how a leader's morals and priorities for the country affect their actions against (or in their mind, for) their people.
ReplyDeleteIt is very disheartening to read about this issue because it could easily be fixed, so the fact that it is growing under the "new" administration is terrible. Children are extremely dependent on their parents and being kept away for such a long time must be extremely difficult.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely horrible, I don't even know what to think. The fact that its getting worse due to Trump's presidency proves another point that America is going downhill really fast. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to be teared away from your own family and be forced to live in some sort of detention center
