The article talks about a statement made by Mick Mulvaney recently, “There’s a very real possibility we will win a race for Senate in Florida and lose a race in Texas for Senate, O.K.?” This statement made by Mulvaney is just one of a handful of examples of the “blue wave” the country has been experiencing this mid-term election system. The article explains this “blue wave” in not only Texas with Cruz and O’Rourke, but across the nation as a time where the Senate, currently controlled by the Republican party, could potentially be lost to the Democratic party in 2018
Analysis:
Mulvaney’s quote clearly shows that there is, within the Trump administration, fear about this mid-term election some 50 days away where the Republican party could potentially lose their iron-fisted grip on the Senate. Mulvaney also acknowledges nationwide views on the current president stating that “If you figure out a way to subtract from that equation how they feel about the president, the numbers go up dramatically.” Implying that within the country and in Washington, there is a lot of weariness about the current man in office and the fact that this mid-term election could be important in deciding the future control of the Senate and the white house, that even those who work closely with the president and the Republican party can see the flaws and where things could potentially go downhill.

It’s interesting that even one of trumps advisors admitted that the democrats may take back the senate
ReplyDeleteI really hope this is the case! I wonder what the impacts of something like this would be. Is it just that our country is shifting towards blue and will likely stay that way or is it merely in response to things occurring in the trump white house?
ReplyDeleteIf the Democratic party take back the Senate, it could hinder so many ideas from being fulfilled by the Republican party. I wonder how President Trump will be able to pass every ill law he's been trying to get approved.
