Humane Society C.E.O. Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations- Heaven-Leigh Pettis

Wayne Pacelle resigns after sexual harassment allegations

Wayne Pacelle resigned on Friday after sexual harassment allegations against him which caused an uprising with the staff and the donors. Pacelle was the face of the Humane Society for over a decade and held the support of most of the people on the board until now. On Friday afternoon, donors and employees all distanced themselves from Pacelle and condemned the board's decision to drop the sexual harassment investigation against him. Employees and donors were calling for him to leave so Pacelle sent out an email saying that "our mission depends on unity" and he'd step aside in order for them to find his successor for C.E.O. His resignation shocked the society and changed the reputation of the Humane Society.
In December, the organization arranged for a law firm in Washington to conduct an internal investigation into the allegations against Pacelle. There were complaints from a former employee claiming that he kissed her against her will in 2005, another employee said that he asked to masturbate in front of her and offered her oral sex in a hotel room in 2006, and another employee who said that one night he stopped by her office and asked her to salsa dance with him in 2012. If the allegations against him are true then it's terrible that he put those employees through that but I think by him resigning could've been him being mature about the situation or him trying to save himself before it gets any messier.

  2. It will never not shock me how such cruel acts go unheard of for so long. I hope the workers can find peace and join together now that he’s gone.

  3. What makes a man think that being sexually harassed is flattering and attractive? It's sleazy, shameful and put's women on a pedestal of embarrassment and uneasiness not attraction and flattery. Before guys sexually harass anyone, they need to realize their consequences will be held accountable and if they want to cry about it-I'm so sorry that you are actually held responsible for doing something so indecent. Time's up.
