"In Texas, it is generally illegal to carry a handgun outside of a person’s own premises. However, a person may carry, either open or concealed, in a non-threatening or alarming manner, a shotgun or rifle." (source)
On June 13, 2015 is when the bill was signed to allow open carried guns, but took effect on January 1,2016. Their has been a lot of controversy about open carried guns in the state of Texas many people are concerned about the wellbeing of their children and the consequences and effects that carring guns may have. Barack Obama is trying his best to stop openly carried guns. In my humble opinion, I believe that open carried guns will cause more problems for the people and honestly I don't believe that people can handle being able to have open carried guns considering the fact that many harmful acts have taken place because of shootings. Also crime rates could possibly rise even higher.

This comment cane from the CNN video above stood out to me and I high agree with this person.
"It felt more like a deposition than a town hall meeting. It felt more like President Obama was testifying in his own defense and his alibi was falling apart. And why was that? All the President wants is fewer Americans to die from gun violence. That shouldn't be a controversial opinion."
comment down below your thoughts on openly carried guns in Texas.
I agree with your opinion. I watched a segment on the Daily Show where a correspondent tried to become "a good guy with a gun". He got a gun (which proved to be very easy to do) and then got some training on how to use it to help people in situations. They then put him in a scenario where he was at a school that was under attack by a shooter. First, he accidentally shot a student. Then, he got shot by the bad guys, then got shot by the cops who mistaked him for the bad guys. It shows that the gun problems can't be so easily fixed by a "good guy with a gun".

ReplyDeleteI am against open carry gun laws because proper regulations are not in place to prevent dangerous people from acquiring guns. I completely understand that some people own guns with out any desire to hurt people, but until there is some sort system in place to make sure that these are the only people with guns, I do not think open carry is a good idea.
