Homeschooling Plano family locked in legal battle over noise levels

On January 14, two homeschool girls (ages 10 & 7) were playing in their backyard, like they do every day, but this day in particular was a little different. Their neighbors contacted the homeowners association and the City of Plano about this situation, saying the kids were a disturbance and made too much noise. The parents of the two kids say that for months now, the neighbors play loud, inappropriate rap music to hope the kids would go inside. The neighbors also contacted the home owners association asking for their playhouse and swing set to be removed from their yard. The verdict and outcome of this situation are still in action, but the judges are on the "home-schoolers" side. Fox asked to speak with Anita Ward, the neighbor who complained... but she declined.

This story is just crazy to me! This world is just getting crazier and crazier by the second. There is no law talking about "being too loud." All it is, is innocent children playing on their swing set during the day. We should be able to be comfortable on our own property, that we pay for, for children to play outside at their leisure.

  1. Actually there is a term called 'disturbing the peace' and its when someone is basically being problematic, including loud noise. However, I think its wrong for the neighbors to complain about children having fun. Honestly, how loud could children be?(Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)
