Cassidy Jones Reports on "Make-a-cake- Slaves"

The book "A Birthday Cale for George Washington" was published Jan. 5 and removed shortly after. In the book,it  depicts the glamorous lifestyle of slave Hercules, and his daughter, Delia. Many critics complained snd noted that slavery in fact was a cruel and gruesome time for  slaves, including Hercules after escaping from his master in 1797. Scholastic announced the removal of the book on Sunday, believing it may give kids a "false impression" on slavery. 

     I think the book being written wasn't the reason people had such negative feedback; the fact it was published snd that Scholastic published  the book , knowing their influence on children in their reading journey.
