9,000 Afghan Security Forces Killed in Combat During Last Two Year - Jack VanGorden 4th per.

U.S. military official, Lieutenant Gen. Joseph Anderson, recently stated that in the last two years, almost 9,000 soldiers and policemen have been killed while fighting with the Taliban in Afghanistan. While the number of casualties has been devastating, we do seem to be winning in the fight. The Afghan Army comprises of about 156,000 soldiers and police forces have about 155,000. Officials have released that while there is no exact data to be shown, the number of casualties has indeed gone up in the last couple of years. 2,210 Americans have said to have died in Iraq since 2001. In response to these tragedies, security is working on boosting recruiting to make up for the abundance of casualties. For example, they are working on procedures to protect soldiers form roadside bombs. Anderson stated that it is unreasonable to think that by improving medical evacuation capabilities, the casualty rate will decrease.

While I was aware of the significant number of deaths military forces experience regularly, the number 9,000 never came to my mind. I'm heartbroken for the loss the families of these brave soldiers have to go through. However, I do agree with Anderson that there is really no solution to decrease the amount of casualties except for discovering new safety procedures for our heroes. It is impossible to save every life because war is very unpredictable.
