Pakistan Suicide by Addison Jordan

Summary: Authorities say at least 11 people have been killed and dozens wounded in a suicide attack Monday at a court building in Pakistan’s capital. The area where this took place includes supermarkets, restaurants and coffee shops.

Two militants threw hand grenades, fired guns and then blew themselves up at the district court building,” said Sikander Hayat, inspector general of Islamabad police.”  Witnesses said the gunmen were just randomly firing at citizens.  It didn’t appear that they were targeting any particular individuals, but one of the casualties was a judge.

Police official Jamil Hashmi says, “There were other armed attackers who opened fire and then left the scene. Police are still in the process of establishing exactly what happened.”  The Taliban in the area denied any involvement in this crime and no one has claimed responsibility.

Attacks like these are rare due to Pakistan’s heavily policed capital. The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences reported 11 people dead and 39 people wounded in this attack.

Analysis: It is always very sad to hear when random attacks like this happen. There is no way to ask them why they did this, or punish them for their actions, because the attackers took their own lives. I wonder why they felt the need to take the lives of other innocent people.  They seem to have very little value of a human life, including their own.

  1. So the Taliban says they have no part in it. Hmm. Perhaps some loners, then? I don't know, it's hard to believe anything the Taliban says honestly.
