Summary: Dave Wilson, a Texas white republican who ran for a seat in the Houston College of Trustees, deceived voters by implying that he was black in order win the election. Because the district in which he was running is predominately African American, Wilson made the decision to put only include black people in his direct mail campaigns. The flier even stated that Ron Wilson, who's a popular black former state representative, endorsed him, when in fact he was talking about his unpopular non-black and non-politician cousin, Ron Wilson. Wilson won the election against Bruce Austin, who's African American and held a seat on the Houston College of Trustees for over 20 years. Austin says he is disgusted by Wilson's actions and seeks a recount. Wilson says he has no regrets.
Analysis: Wow. Politicians will really say/do anything to get elected. I'm sure this will infuriate Houston voters, especially after hearing Wilson be unapologetic. However, every politician lies and misleads citizens. But to directly admit to and pride yourself on a something as disrespectful and crude as this is something I've never seen a politician do. I hope he knows that he has betrayed the public trust and more likely than not won't be reelected to a second term.

Its astonishing how a country where blacks pretended to be white, is becoming a country where whites are pretending to be black...

As Eddy Griffin said, whites lay in the sun to ge darker, you never see a black man sitting in the moon light trying to "get that barry manilow" It is a sad day when some one has to stoop so low to be elected. In his mind he knew he wasn't good enough just by himself. It also makes me wonder how big the race issue really is. I mean is it really that bad that people wooldn't have accepted his real visions because he's white. Or is it the deception that tells us thst he can't be trusted. I think it's both.
