"Pasta maker Barilla plans "inclusive" TV ads after anti-gay remarks"
Summary: The chairman of the Barilla pasta chain claimed that he would never use a gay family in his advertising. As of lately the chairman has already made plans to try and diversify the company in reaction to the enormous amounts of hate the company received after the remark. After the remark, many gay-rights groups boycotted the company, and even got enough publicity to start a facebook and twitter page mocking the company's name. Since the comments a representative from the company has had over eight meetings with several gay organizations throughout Italy and the United States. Many people from the company say that they were shocked by the public's reaction, thinking that many people in Panama and Italy would have no problem with the comments made.
Analysis: This reminds me of the whole debacle over the founder of Hollister, when he said that he didn't want fat people wearing his clothes. Unfortunately, many people have awful views and aren't open to diversity and don't understand that everyone is an individual. However, even though I don't support the views that were expressed by either company, I do think that they have the right to their opinion. This is business, and even if they have certain views that they know will cause controversy they shouldn't express them because it is a very good way to lose money.

I agree. People shouldn't create something and then restrict who can use it. It's discriminatory and unjust.
