It is very tragic that such a beautiful event should be plagued with such tragic news. Joy Johnson, most definately lived a colorful life, being an 86 year old marathon runner is certainly something to brag about. She probably felt uncoordinated plus tired as hell. Her pride stopped her from seeking medical attention, which in turn, could of saved her life. Joy Johnson may be dead, but will live on in the records of the New York City Marathon.
Isn't that a great way to go out though? I mean not hitting your head on the pavement, but dying just moments after you accomplish a feat so great. I mean she was the oldest woman to ever complete this marathon. It seems to me she lived a healthy full and exciting life, so I am glad for her, and her family should be comforted in those thoughts :). RIP
ReplyDeleteOh no that's so dad! I think it's really cool that she was in shape enough to run for that distance but I'm sad that she died :/ she should have stopped running she her head and took a break. RIP -Jasmine Easter
ReplyDeleteSuch a simple way to die! She could have survived that race and lived for maybe a few more years but we all have a calling... Anyway, I strongly admire her tenacity because I probably will never do that at 86! God bless her and her family!
