In a recent press conference, Trump was asked about his support of WikiLeaks, the website responsible for the publishing of leaked secret government documents, after is founder, Julian Assange was arrested in London this week. HE claimed he knew "nothing about WikiLeaks" and that it "wasn't his thing". Previously in several 2016 rallies, Trump stated that he "loved WikiLeaks" and encouraged them to attack democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by publishing her alleged 30,000 emails from her personal server, going so far as publicly encouraging the Russians to help in this. Still, Trump said Thursday he knows "nothing" about Assange or WikiLeaks.
I think that a president who constantly lies about what he has said in order to be convenient for him in any particular moment shows Trump's lack of integrity as a person and leader. This relates to his "alternative facts" mindset, and that he can pretty much say anything he wants and then deny it later. He obviously greatly supported the WikiLeaks website when they were publishing documents that helped his cause by attacking Clinton, but as soon as they attack anything to do with him or his administration, he clams to know nothing about any of it. I believe we need a president with integrity, who who won't lie about what they said or did, even if it was wrong.
I completely agree with your assessment. Trump needs to have more integrity than this. It would be understandable if he discredited his earlier statement praising WikiLeaks, but to claim that he knows nothing about it is ridiculous. - Daniella Castanheira
