Human health can be 'mostly sustained' for a year in space, NASA Twins Study concludes - Savannah Ghermay

A pair of twins were a part of study that had one of them go into space and the other stay on earth for a full year. It was discovered that the twin in space, Scott Kelly, had experienced changes to his body. There were a number of changes, some considered to be dangerous, including thickening of the carotid artery.  However, upon returning to earth his changes went back to normal.

I think we need to start studying the changes a person experiences while in space. This is because if we eventually outgrow the earth, or global warming destroys the planet, We need to know all of the changes that could be potentially life threatening.

  1. I think this topic should be explored further because it might help move us to the moon who knows

  2. I agree that the exploration of potential human life in space is very important, especially as resources on Earth run dry. However, I do not believe that the possibility of life in space should deter our responsibility to conserve the Earth on which we have already been able to survive for nearly six million years. Turn off that light, recycle the plastic, don't touch that straw, use reusable grocery bags when shopping! Why trash the Earth with seas of clutter and waste in hopes of another home instead of caring for the one we have today? If we keep wasting carelessly, the world will soon enough rot and surely take us with it.
